Acura Super Bowl commercial features Jerry Seinfeld and sock puppets [video]

Jerry Seinfeld returns to the small screen on February 5, 2012 with his Super Bowl XLVI commercial for Acura. The comedic ad is scheduled to make its official television premiere during the big game on Sunday.

According to NBC Chicago's Drew Magary, the new Jerry Seinfeld ad isn't funny: "It’s like a list of jokes that the ad agency failed to edit down to a manageable length, like a sketch that goes on for too long." Despite Magary's dismal opinion of the ad, the commercial has received nearly 13,000 likes on YouTube plus more than 14 million views.

The new Super Bowl XLVI commercial for Acura features Jerry Seinfeld employing various techniques from stand-up comedy to sock puppetry to obtain the very first Acura NSX. At the end, Seinfeld's plan is foiled by fellow comedian Jay Leno.

Larry Thomas reprised his role as the infamous soup Nazi from Seinfeld for the Acura NSX commercial. Thomas is the only character from Seinfeld other than its star to appear in the Super Bowl XLVI commercial for Acura. An extended version of the ad is only available online.
