Acupuncture to treat infertility

When most people hear "infertility treatments" they imagine IUIs (intrauterine inseminations), IVF (in-vitro fertilization), or various medical diagnostic and procedural interventions. When thinking of the medications involved they accept strong medications that can put the woman on a hormonal rollercoaster.

For those who prefer a gentler, holistic approach, they might turn to herbal medicine and even acupuncture. There are several studies that show improved rates for IVF or other ART (assisted reproductive technology) procedures when acupuncture is used to prepare for these things. Using all of TCM (traditional Chinese medicine) techniques, a reproductive or fertility acupuncture facility may address nutrition changes, accupuncture treatments and chinese herbology to address any menstrual problems.

Although many chiropractic offices offer acupuncture, there are many Acupuncture clinics in the Austin area that specialize in reproductive acupuncture to increase rates of pregnancy for couples that have infertility diagnoses. Many will also do a consultation to assess if any Chinese Herbs can assist in increasing fertility.

Also check out acupuncture clinics that focus primarily on Reproductive Acupuncture such as Central Family Reproductive Acupuncture or Axis Acupuncture of Austin. The Healing Acupuncture Center offers reproductive acupuncture services as well as for other conditions. They have a page that answers basic questions about acupuncture and also advise on things to consider when picking an acupuncturist.

For couples who have exhausted Western medical treatments with little result or would like to supplement them with a holistic or herbal approach, accupuncture and other Traditional Chinese Medicine may be an excellent option.
