BET network plans to launch a four-week trial daily talk show premiering in July and airing Mondays through Fridays featuring actress Keke Palmer as host for what will be called ‘Keke Palmer Project.’ The show will be produced by the Warner Brothers syndication division Telepictures and television court Judge Greg Mathis who will perform the duties of executive producer.
Palmer made quite an impression on audiences at the tender age of 12 playing the title role of the 2006 film “Akeelah and the Bee.” A few of her other film credits include: ‘Barbershop 2: Back in Business’ and Tyler Perry’s ‘Madea’s Family Reunion.’ She has also appeared in episodes of several television programs such as: ‘Cold Case,’ ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,’ ‘Grey’s Anatomy,’ and she played the title role in Nickelodeon’s ‘True Jackson, VP.’ A talented singer as well, Palmer released her debut album ‘So Uncool’ in 2007.
Production is set to begin this summer in Los Angeles and targeted towards milennials or Generation Y (those born between the 1980s and early 2000s).
The 20-year-old Harvey, Illinois native will be the youngest talk show host in television history. As someone who actively interacts through social media, Palmer’s show will cover a wide range of topics including pop culture, fashion, social issues and celebrity interviews as well as some “on the street” and “undercover” segments.
Keke stated, “I like to read quotes that touch on how I am feeling [on social media]. If I am dealing with confusion, I will read quotes about clarity and peace of mind. I started posting these quotes on my Twitter page, and the fans responded so positively! I realized that many of them were dealing with similar issues, and the quotes helped to open up a genuine dialogue between us.”
