Actress Joan Fontaine dies at age 96

According to the LA Times, actress Joan Fontaine passed away today at age 96. Her assistant, Susan Pfeiffer said that she died from natural causes at her home in Carmel, Calif.

Fontaine is best known for her Oscar winning performance in Alfred Hitchcock's film "Suspicion." She also starred in other classic films like "Rebecca," "Jane Eyre," "Gunga Din" "Frenchman's Creek," and "The Constant Nymph."

Fontaine was born on Oct. 22, 1917 in Tokyo. She's the sister of actress Olivia de Havilland, which both were known for their feuds together. Fontaine had been married four times in her lifetime and was once married to British actor, Brian Aherne.

She is survived by her two daughters and sister Olivia.
