Actress January Jones admits her hair is falling out

January Jones, best known for her role as Don Draper’s ex-wife Betty on the AMC hit Mad Men, graced the red carpet at last night’s Screen Actors Guild Awards with beautiful blonde locks. However, the actress recently admitted to Grazia Daily that her hair is falling out.

According to the actress, 35, her penchant for changing her hair color often has led to an unfortunate side effect. “I have been every hair color and now my hair is falling out in clumps,” Jones told the British magazine. “I’ve been blonde, red with extensions for this film, then blonde, then black, and now blonde again.”

As ABC News reports, genetic factors and medical conditions can cause significant hair loss, but excessive hair coloring can sometimes lead to the same result. Jones is not the only actress to suffer this fate, as both Kelly Osbourne and Lady Gaga have complained of the same hairy problem.

According to Gretta Monahan of Grettacole Salon in Boston, the harsh chemicals in hair coloring can often cause breakage and hair loss. Stars like Jones would do well to remember to properly condition hair and use gentle products whenever possible.
