Actress Ellen Page comes out at Time To Thrive conference

Actress Ellen Page came out yesterday, February 14, 2014, as gay to the audience at Bally's Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. This comes after a long winded battle with trying to withhold a part of herself, that affected many aspects of her personal life.

Ellen Page has officially come out as gay. Whether this will inspire her fans to do the same, or erupt in backlash from the Hollywood community, is anyone's guess. For one day, we can smile that she found the courage to be herself.

“I am tired of hiding and I am tired of lying by omission,” Page said. “I suffered for years because I was scared to be out. My spirit suffered, my mental health suffered and my relationships suffered. And I’m standing here today, with all of you, on the other side of all that pain.”

The sponsor of the conference, Human Rights Campaign, tweeted “Congratulations @EllenPage for taking the steps to live openly and come out as lesbian.”

As a 26-year-old actress, Page is starred in the film Juno, also appearing in Inception, Whip It, and To Rome With Love, as well as lending her voice to the game Beyond: Two Souls as Jodie Holmes.

Ellen Page also starred as Kitty Pryde in the film X-Men: The Last Stand, and will reprise her role in Days Of Future Past on May 23 of this year.
