The South Beach Wine and Food Festival is Miami's chance to hobnob with the culinary stars. Since these stars all have shows on the Cooking Channel or the Food Network it only makes since that there would an actor thrown in there somewhere.
That's where Debi Mazar comes in. You may remember Mazar as University of Miami graduate Ray Liotta's mistress Sandy in Goodfellas. You also might remember her briefly from a 2009 episode of the locally shot, USA Network number 1 hit, Burn Notice.
Well it seems that Mazar has a new reason to visit the South Florida shores. She hosts Extra Virgin with her Italian husband Gabriele Corcos on the Cooking Channel. Corcos is an Italian-born musician and cook who was trained by the best, namely his grandmother and mother and together they show their viewers the beauty of organic Tuscan cuisine.
A lucky few will be able to meet Mazar and Corcos is person at 12 p.m. today. They are hosting the Barilla Interactive Lunch with Barilla Chef Lorenzo Boni and the Biltmore Hotel Chef at the Biltmore Hotel. The event is sold out with tickets $150 a pop but those who are in attendance will have the opportunity to learn about Italian Cooking and actually taste the food prepared along with experiencing expertly paired Italian wines.
Each chef will take turns preparing a meal in this 2 and 1/2 hour cooking class that is sure to ignite that spicy Italian flare in anyone.
The South Beach Wine and Food Festival ends Sunday, Feb. 24.
