Actress Amanda Bynes is considered mentally unstable to go on trial. Amanda was supposed to go on trial for her DUI case, but is mentally incompetent to go on trial according to her attorney.
According Radaronline, the actress has been under temporary conservatorship obtained by her mother Lynn. She got the conservatorship after the actress set a fire near her parents’ home. This conservatorship enables Lynn to make decisions on Amanda’s behalf.
According to California Law, if a lawyer tells the court that his or her client is not mentally stable, the client has to undergo a hearing to determine their competence before they can go on trial.
Lynn will retain conservatorship until September 27. Amanda will have to appear at a hearing to decide whether or not her mother will retain control over her decisions permanently. If Lynn keeps this power permanently, she may be able to determine Amanda’s fate for the DUI trial.
Amanda has been under psychiatric care for a little while. Her trial has been halted until a judge can determine whether she is mentally fit to stand trial.
Newark residents remember Amanda from Nickelodeon’s All That and the CW’s What I Like About You. She also appeared in the movies Sydney White and Hairspray.
