Here’s a shining example of how the good outweighs the bad. Before receiving the news that her ABC show ‘Suburgatory’ got cancelled, actress Cheryl Hines, 48, became engaged to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., 60, the third child born to Ethel and Robert F. Kennedy. The happy couple announced their exciting news at Muhammad Ali’s Celebrity event in Phoenix, Arizona. The pair, who began dating in 2012, has been down the aisle before. This will be Hines’ second marriage and Kennedy’s third.

The blond-haired Florida native worked as a television reporter, waitress, telephone operator and personal assistant to actor and producer Rob Reiner before breaking onto the Hollywood scene. “I really this guy,” the mother of one daughter said at a UCLA event in March. She called her beau who is the father of six “a devoted dad and an all-around good guy.” The actress previously garnered two Emmy nominations for her role as Larry David’s wife on HBO’s ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm.”

Kennedy, an activist, attorney and radio host was first married to Emily Ruth Black in 1982 and then to Mary Kathleen Richardson in 1994. Richardson committed suicide in 2012.

The merger between celebrities and politicians is nothing new. Even “Papa Joe”, the grandfather of Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. was rumored to be smitten with Hollywood screen siren Gloria Swanson. But only a few romantic mergers have actually crossed the threshold of holy matrimony to join such political royalty as the Kennedy clan.

Maria Schriver (another Kennedy family member) married action hero and former Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzennger, in 1986. Their much publicized split has quieted down considerably. Actress Jerri Ryan was married to U.S. Senator Jack Ryan until their divorce in 1999. The late Elizabeth Taylor and U. S. Senator John Warner were married for five years before their divorce. Warner later went on to romance journalism icon Barbara Walters and ‘Modern Family’s’ Sofia Vergara’s fiancé Nick Loeb is a U. S. Ambassador.

It’s not known yet if Hines and Kennedy plan to make their nuptials one of the biggest social events society have ever seen or just celebrate their union with an intimate setting.
