Actress Brittany Murphy dead at age 32

On the morning of Sunday, December 20, while Bostonians bundled up to unearth their cars and walkways from a mountain of snow, beautiful actress Brittany Murphy died in her Los Angeles home.  Her cause of death has been ruled as natural, leading to speculation that the report of her death is a hoax.  However, Cedar-Sinai Medical Centre, as well as Murphy's publicist, have confirmed that the untimely death of the actress did in fact take place yesterday morning.  Authorities responded to a "medical request" made from the Hollywood Hills home Murphy shared with her husband, British screenwriter Simon Monjack.  Eye-witnesses report seeing Murphy on a stretcher while firefighters attempted to resuscitate her.  Murphy was transported to Cedar-Sinai Medical Centre where she was pronounced dead around 10am, after going into cardiac arrest.

Brittany Murphy has been a working actress since age 14, landing her first Hollywood role in the series Drexell's Class before scoring parts on several other television series' in the years to come.  In 1997, she became the voice of Luanne Platter on King of the Hill.  Murphy starred in many successful films, such as Clueless (1995), Girl, Interrupted (1999), 8 Mile (2002), Sin City (2005), as well as many lesser-known films, such as Spun (2003).  The actress also enjoyed singing, releasing the single "Faster Kill Pussycat" with popular DJ Paul Oakenfold; the song became a club hit and went number one on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Play chart.  Murphy also covered Queen's "Somebody to Love" and Earth, Wind & Fire's "Boogie Wonderland" for the film Happy Feet.

Murphy and her husband, Simon Monjack, wed just two years ago in a small, Jewish wedding.  Rumors circulate that Monjack does not desire an autopsy to be performed on his late wife.  Attacks against Monjack's character have also circulated throughout Hollywood's Gossip mill, since the couple's "surprise" engagement and throughout their low-profile marriage.  Despite rumors that Monjack objects to an autopsy, it is reported that an autopsy and complete examination of Murphy's medical history will be performed today or tomorrow.
