Actors and musician auditions for the Scarborough Festival coming soon

Are you an aspiring actor or musician? Do you love the period of the renaissance or are you a history buff? Then it's time you began your career with the Scarborough Renaissance Festival’s performing company, the Scarborough Academy of Performing Arts (SAPA). Auditions are scheduled for this Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the Waxahachie Civic Center.

Auditions are by appointment only and must be scheduled in advance by Wednesday, January 8, 2014 by emailing: entertainment@srfestival.com or calling 972-938-3247 ext. 22.

SAPA is seeking performers who enjoy improvisation, interact well with people and enjoy being entertaining. The Auditions will consist of a series of previously unrehearsed individual and group performance activities. No improvisational acting experience is required and actors of all ages are welcome.

Characters for the 2014 season of Scarborough Renaissance Festival® will be created to best suit the needs of the cast and performers. All characters will need to be outgoing, interesting and entertaining to the visitors of the festival. Activities such as dance, music and choreographed fighting will also be available should the actors wish to participate.

Once chosen to be a member of SAPA, all performers will be required to participate in the SAPA Rehearsal/Workshops Saturdays and Sundays, February 8 – March 30, 2014 at the Scarborough Renaissance Festival® site in Waxahachie (2511 FM 66 Waxahachie, TX 75167) and must be available for all performance dates of the Scarborough Renaissance Festival® 2014: Saturdays and Sundays April 5 – May 25, 2014 plus, Memorial Day Monday, May 26.

One of the most entertaining families festivals in North Texas, the Scarborough Renaissance Festival® is a 16th Century Style festival set in the days of King Henry VIII! Enjoy full combat armored jousts, Birds of Prey exhibitions, Renaissance entertainment on 21 stages, human powered rides, games of skill, exquisite crafts, 200 shoppes, artisan demonstrations and the all NEW expanded Mermaid Lagoon. The culinary delights are enormous complete with pubs and taverns.

The Scarborough Renaissance Festival® will be open on Saturdays, Sundays, and Memorial Day Monday, April 5 – May 26, 2014, rain or shine, from 10 AM to 7 PM. Located in Waxahachie, Scarborough is just 30 minutes south of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex off of I-35E at exit 399A. From Austin or Waco, follow I-35E north to Exit 399.
