Actor Tracy Morgan is left in critical condition after a tractor-trailer struck the limo bus he was riding in on the morning of June 7, after he was on his way home from a standup gig Friday night in Delaware as reported by CNN News.
Morgan was reportedly in the vehicle with fellow comedian, 63-year-old James McNair of Peekshill, New York, who performed under the name "Jimmy Mack," who was killed by the impact.
Sgt. Gregory Williams of New Jersey State Police released a statement:
"NJSP says the driver of the tractor-trailer failed to observe slow-moving traffic ahead," Williams said. "At the last minute, he swerved to try and avoid the Mercedes limo bus but struck it from behind, forcing the limo to rotate and overturn."
Six others, aside from Morgan were hospitalized with injuries, and 35 year old, Kevin Roper, 35, of Jonesboro, Ga, has been charged with one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto after the tractor-trailer he was driving crashed into the limo bus carrying the comedian and others.
TMZ reports it was "a horrific 6-vehicle accident" that involved "2 tractor-trailers, 2 cars, an SUV and the limo bus."
Tracy's rep says the comedian's family is with him now and he's currently receiving "excellent care." Doctors don't anticipate a change today to his current condition.
