Actor-Rapper Common stopped by the MSNBC show “NOW with Alex Wagner” on Tuesday to discuss his new movie “LUV”. In the film Common stars as an uncle whose criminal past catches up to him in front of his young nephew. The drama directed by Sheldon Candis premieres in AMC Theaters across the US on Friday January 18.

During his appearance on “NOW with Alex Wagner“, Common talked about how it was important for him to show his character’s humanity.
“When I take on these characters I need to show that. I need to show that this person is pursing the American dream…he wants to be a good father-figure to his nephew.”

“LUV” also stars Michael Rainey Jr., Charles S. Dutton, Lonette McKee, Dennis Haysbert, Danny Glover, Russell Hornsby, Meagan Good, Michael K. Williams and Haywood Armstrong. The movie was a 2012 Sundance Film Festival selection.
