In less than six months since moving from New York , young Filipino-Italian American actor Michael Galante has been making a name for himself in Los Angeles. Galante started his career after realizing his passion for acting while still pursuing a career in dentistry.
Michael started his acting career with short films in New York in 2007 with the most recently produced HypeBeast directed by Fil-Am Jess De La Merced. You may also notice Galante from the Durcacell Powermat commercial also featuring rapper/music mogul Jay-Z.
Interestingly, his biggest role yet is the lead role in the ensemble theatre piece from Theatre Unleased production of "Trust" by playwright Steven Dietz and directed by Scott Marden. Michael Galante plays rising music star Cody Brown who is also about to be married to his fiancee Becca. However, all doesn't go as planned when Cody meets former rock star Leah while he's on the road.
It was a bit of a bumpy road for the production of "Trust" as director Scott Marden explained that the original actor to play Cody had other obligations take priority. This left Theatre Unleashed' production without a Cody Brown. After a full weekend of searching for a replacement, Michael Galante came into the picture. "Sunday night, Michael finally did a reading. He walked through the door and I was like '"Oh My God, this is Cody. He's here in front of me."' He's a rock star. He just walked into the door and this guy's amazing and then he talks... he's the nicest guy ever."
That rock star look with the strong chestnut colored hair paired with his golden brown eyes hasn't gone unnoticed in Los Angeles as he's been booking more commercials and print ads. Galante says, "It's been a blessing."
Michael has recently tried his hand at on camera hosting with this writer's affiliate Pacific Rim Video as he covered the 30th Annual Love Ride held at the Glendale Harley-Davidson this past Sunday. Granted it wasn't a typical red carpet, Galante was able to experience the fast paced life on the red carpet as he to rush to get interviews with Jay Leno, Emilio Rivera of "Sons of Anarchy," and Lorenzo Lamas before they hopped on their bike for the Love Ride to Lake Castaic. "Had a blast out there. Great experience that will only help me with my career," says the young actor.
He was even humbled and surprised as Lorenzo Lamas asked, "Do we have the same parents? We could be brothers."
Michael Galante can be seen making appearances on TV show Rizzoli & Isles along with films in post production "Man In A Box" "Boy Meets Girl" and "Prank'd"
Galante's play "Trust" is currently playing at Theatre Unleashed located at 11031 Camrillo Street in North Hollywood, Ca until November 9.
