Actor John Karlen turns 81 today, he's known for many things, from the Gothic Soap "Dark Shadows" to the popular Cop show "Cagney & Lacey." He's even won an Emmy for his TV work. He's starred in movies too, that's what today's article is going to look at, four of his movies

So here's four movies for Karlen fans to watch:

"House of Dark Shadows" (1970)

In "House of Dark Shadows," John Karlen reprises his role as Willie Loomis. Dan Curtis the creator of "Dark Shadows" directed the movie, and Johnathan Frid, Grayson Hall, Kathryn Leigh Scott, and the classic actress turned Soap Matriarch Joan Bennett. The film version of the TV is quite a great movie.

"Daughters of Darkness" (1971)

Karlen starred in this Belgian vampire film, that had been directed by Harry Krumel. This erotic vampire flick deals with a young couple and Elizabeth Bathory. It was list as one of Time Out's top 100 best horror movies.

"Night of Dark Shadows" (1971)

"Night of Dark Shadows," was the second "Dark Shadows" film. In the film, Karlen is not Willie Loomis, but a writer named Alex Jenkins, who is friend's with Quentin Collins. Lara Parker, Kate Jackson, Grayson Hall, and Nancy Barrett. Dan Curtis also directed this film. While it's not my favorite, still something to watch for "Dark Shadow" fans.

"Gimme an 'F'" (1984)

After all that Gothic cinema, here's a comedy which Karlen starred in along with Stephen Shellen, Jennifer Cooke, and Lisa Wilcox. This R-rated comedy is a cult film about cheerleading, where there is a bet going on to make the worst team beat the best, etc.. 20th Century Fox actually was the ones that distributed this movie.

So those were four movies that actor John Karlen has starred in. Here's to wishing him a very happy birthday!
