There is never a time when death is something to take lightly although some may hit us a bit harder than others. Here is one that truly hits home for me considering he was a part of one of my favorite films of all time.

Glenn Shadix has died at the age of 58 after taking a fatal fall at his home in Birmingham, Alabama.

Known probably best for his role as Otho in the movie Beetlejuice, Shadix's death was reported by his sister Susan Gagne.

"He was having mobility problems, and he was in a wheelchair. It looks like he fell and his his head in the kitchen, and that's the cause of death," said Gagne to a local Alabama news station.

Such a shame to see this man go so early, but who is to know if he was suffering or not due to his limited mobility. None the less, Shadix was a great actor that will forever be remembered as the interior designed for the Deetz family, the Mayor from Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas, and the assistant in Demolition Man.

Shadix also had bit roles in HBO's Carinvale, Planet of the Apes, Multiplicity and many others.

A great actor has been taken from this world so may he rest in peace with his stolen copy of "Handbook for the Recently Deceased."

I was saddened to hear of the death of Glenn Shadix. He was a funny man and made me laugh many times. I hope Glenn Shadix is at peace. Thanks for the laughs in Beetlejuice and The Nightmare Before Christmas, and of course, Heathers.

3rd reference to Beetlejuice this week. I wish it could have been a better one. I'll miss you, Mayor!

A shame to hear of his passing. He always played offbeat roles, and played them with relish...
