Actor Fred Williamson’s crowd-funding campaign finds new home

Former football player turned action star Fred “The Hammer” Williamson has relaunched his crowd-funding campaign to help finance a sequel to his 1996 film “Original Gangstas” which starred Williamson and his fellow action legends Jim Brown (“Slaughter’s Big Rip-Off”), Pam Grier (“Foxy Brown”) and Richard Roundtree (“Shaft”).

The “Three the Hard Way” actor had originally set up the campaign at Kickstarter with a goal of more than a $1 million but has since moved over to Indiegogo with a lower goal of $300-thousand dollars. The campaign has less than 40 days to go and donors can contrbute between $10 and $10-thousand dollars. It is scheduled to end on April 4.

In addition to Williamson, Brown, Grier and Roundtree, “Original Gangstas 2” will star Bernie Casey (“Cornbread, Earl and Me”), Robert Forster (“Jackie Brown”), Antonio Fargas (“Car Wash”) and Gloria Hendry (“Hell Up in Harlem”).

The former grid-rion star who played for the NFL’s Oakland Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs has successfully transitioned into the acting world with numerous big and small screen credits. They included the movies “Black Ceasar” and “Starsky & Hutch” and the televison series “The Equalizer” and “Julia”.
