Actor Don Cheadle is closing in on his $325,000 goal to help fund his Miles Davis biopic with about a week left to go in his campaign. The “House of Lies” and “Iron Man” star who kicked off his Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign back on June 3 has now raised over a $210,000 for the project titled “Miles Ahead". According to Cheadle’s Indiegogo page he has been developing the film since 2008. (Visit Don Cheadle’s Indiegogo campaign here.)

The Academy Award nominee will star as the late iconic Jazz musician in the film as well as produce and direct. Instead of a coventional biopic Cheadle’s film will have the legendary Davis emerging from a silent period and joining forces with a journalist to steal back his music. In addition to Cheadle the movie will star actor Ewan McGregor (“August: Osage County”) and actress Emayatzy Corinealdi (“Middle of Nowhere”).

Movie lovers who are interested in seeing this film get made can contribute as low as $5 up to $25-thousand. The perks include a set visit, signed DVDs of the film, T-shirts, Hoodies, I-Phone covers or lunch with Don Cheadle himself. The campaign recently added some new perks including tickets to see The Rolling Stones in concert. All donations will go towards the film’s budget to help cover locations, crew, etc.

Cheadle’s distinguished career includes numerous television and movie roles. He earned an Oscar nomination for the 2004 film “Hotel Rwanda”. His other credits include “ER”, “The Rat Pack”, “Talk to Me”, “Boogie Nights”, “Devil in a Blue Dress”, “Brooklyn’s Finest” and “Crash”.

You can follow the film “Miles Ahead” at its Facebook page, on Instragram and Twitter as well as follow Don Cheadle on Twitter here. Cheadle’s Indiegogo campaign is scheduled to end on July 10.
