Cuba Gooding, Jr. and wife, Sara Kapfer is heading to splitsville after being married 20 years, according to People magazine. The couple who were each other’s high school sweetheart since the late 80’s, has three children ages 19, 17 and 8-1/2.
Kapfer, who is 44, filed for the legal separation on Monday in a Los Angeles Court. The legal separation from the Academy Award-winning actor cited “irreconcilable differences.”
Gooding, Jr., 46 was born in The Bronx and moved with his family as a young boy to his permanent home today, Los Angeles.
It was way after high school that Gooding, Jr. put his full focus on acting, landing him in small, yet memorable roles in both TV and film. Gooding, Jr. earned guest starring roles on popular shows like, “Hill Street Blues,” “Amen” and “MacGyver.”
Gooding, Jr’s, first film debut was in Eddie Murphy’s “Coming to America,” in 1988. Gooding, Jr. had a tiny feature in the film, which also co-starred Arsenio Hall and John Amos. From there, Gooding, Jr. made a huge break-through performance in John Singleton’s “Boyz n the Hood,” in 1991.
After Boyz n the Hood, Gooding, Jr. became a money-making working actor, and married his high school sweetheart in 1994.
Sadly, the 20-year marriage came to an end in April 2014. Gooding, Jr’s wife is seeking joint legal and physical custody of their minor children and requesting spousal support as well.
