Exclusive from Filipino Celebrity Headlines Examiner through text messages from Dumaguete City, Philippines - Actor-Sarangani Congressman Emmanuel "Manny" Pacquiao has arrived at this writer's old alma mater, Silliman University, in Dumaguete City, Philippines. He's the special guest of Silliman University's College of Law founding anniversary. Jing Gacal, private lawyer and adviser of Pacquiao, was reportedly seen as well along with Pacquiao's security personnel.
Greeted by Attorney Nicholas Bejar, Attorney Mikhail Maxino (Dean of the College of Law of the said American (international university), Attorney Lester Nuique (president of the Silliman University College of Law Alumni) and by some dignitaries and fans, Pacquiao seemed to be enjoying the welcoming spirit of the Sillimanians bolstering the city of gentle people, according to report.
Report has it Pacquiao delivered his speech, "Lessons from the Eagle", and thrilled the alumni, dignitaries, faculty members, students and visitors at about 10 a.m. during the University convocation of its 109th Founders' Aniversary at the Luce Auditorium. (Text to follow).
Established in 1901 by American missionaries under the Board of Foreign Missions of the Presbyterian Church in the United States, Silliman University also referred to as Silliman or SU is the first Protestant school to be founded in the Philippines and also the oldest American established university in Asia, according to Encyclopedia.
In the afternoon, Pacquiao will be the inspirational speaker during the Silliman law alumni fellowship at 4:00 p.m. at the Villareal Hall.
Pacquiao is slated to spend the night in Dumaguete, according fellow Sillimanian.

Happy to see Pacquiao visiting one of the oldest and prestigious University in the Philippines. I for one was a former student of this University for two years under the college of engineering, but was not able to finish mechanical engineering degree due to enlistment to the US Navy. I had visited Silliman two years ago with my family and the school still looks very impressive, in fact my son made comments about seeking teaching position in the university. Silliman used to be known for being top in the college of jounalism, law and nursing and If I'm not mistaken this is still the case and perhaps more new degrees are added to the list. I would encourage parents to send college bound child/children to this university for excellent education and guaranteed employment. Look at Mr. Ampong, he's one of the best product of Silliman. I guessed I don't count, because I didn't graduate, but the two years I spent at this university had tremendously helped me passed the test requirements and oral interview in english to get accepted for enlistment in the US Navy at Sangley Point, Cavite city.
