Robin Williams has passed away. There are many saddened and shocked by the news. Robin Williams showed a talent in his comedic specials, television roles and other films. He was Peter Pan in Hook, a father who wanted to be closer to his children in Mrs. Doubtfire, a passionate English teacher in Dead Poets Society and played a special part in so many memorable films. Robin Williams not only shared his gift of comedic genius, but knew how to play a role with sincerity and energy.

His role as the alien Mork from Ork on Mork and Mindy was considered his breakout role. Williams would later star in his first movie as Popeye which would lead to other films. He earned nominations for Best Lead Actor in Good Morning Vietnam, Dead Poets Society and the Fisher King. Robin Williams would win an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor as the compassionate psychologist in Good Will Hunting. In addition, the performer won four Golden Globe Awards (one for his role as Dr. Malcolm Sayer in Awakenings), two Emmys and two Screen Actors Guild Awards. He was also nominated for Nickelodeon's Kids Choice Awards with films Jumanji, Jack, Flubber, Bicentennial Man and Robots.

Robin Williams voiced Genie in the classic Disney film, Aladdin and would later return to voice the character again in the third film, Aladdin and the King of Thieves. He also played in Disney films Flubber and Old Dogs. Robin Williams became a Disney Legend in 2009.

The performer is survived by his wife, Susan Schneider and his children Zachary, Zelda and Cody.
