Social entrepreneur, Chris Bashinelli takes on many different roles: actor, activist, host, and producer. He may be 26 years old, but he has already racked up incredible achievements that include an acting part in The Sopranos and moderating an event at the UN General Assembly with the UN Secretary General. Not bad for a start, but his ambition and vision is far reaching and impactful. He has at least 10 films to his credit too, including many award winners.
He contacted me today to let me know about his latest project.
In a manner of communicating that he uses best, he shared this film quip.
It is called NAT GEO's "Kid Nomad: Mongolia" - Rights of Passage.
Chris Bashinelli is now a “Young Explorer” with National Geographic. That is news. He is going to lead an adventure through Mongolia.
He explains that Western society is disconnected from parts of the world where people are isolated and sometimes nomadic cultures who struggle moment by moment just to survive. Chris believes that the best way to feel their experience is to jump into their shoes and travel with them. So, he is off to Mongolia where he will try to survive alongside the local people to document the experience that will be shared on the National Geographic channel.
“Investing your time, money, and life into something is often an all or nothing adventure. This is no exception. It's a several month commitment that will be nothing short of grueling. While in Mongolia, filming conditions will be incredibly difficult- horrible roads, freezing cold nights, and stomach issues I don't event want to begin to think about. With no money in this for us as a producers, it's a trust-in-the-universe scenario where we believe in the story so much we're willing to dive in head first and see what happens!”
Now, I can tell you personally that this young man is in great physical condition. He is dedicated and will work hard. He is campaigning now to raise funds to pay for part of the expense for the expedition.
Once he is in Mongolia, Arlington Film Examiner will receive some exclusive updates that will be reported here at Examiner.com. Other stories about Chris are posted here for reference.
Future story angles will include reporting about the process of how acting, producing, social media and a world renowned organization collaborate on such a unique and educational adventure.
Wish "Bash" good luck, and it will be exciting to hear about his progress.
