Actor and Celebrity Rehab star Jeff Conaway dies - RIP Kenickie

Television and film actor Jeff Conaway has died.  Conaway was found unconscious earlier this month and has been in a medically induced coma.  Yesterday, his family made the difficult decision to remove his life-support.  Surrounded by loved ones, the actor died earlier today, May 27, 2011, at 10:30 A.M. at a Los Angeles area hospital. 

Best known for his roles in the classic film Grease and television series Taxi, Conaway was also part of the 2008 VH1Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew reality show.   Although Conaway battled drug and alcohol addiction for many years, Dr. Drew Pinsky said Conaway was suffering from pneumonia and a blood disorder, sepsis.  On hearing the news, Pinsky tweeted:

“Looked like he might pull through last weekend but unfortunately that was not meant to be.  Please continue to send your well wishes and prayers...”

John Travolta, who starred in Grease, told ENews, “Jeff Conaway was a wonderful and decent man and we will miss him. My heartfelt thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this very difficult time“

Conaway was married twice, once to Olivia Newton John’s sister, Rona.  Olivia Newton John also co-starred in Grease. Jeff Conaway was 60 years old.
