Quinn, who resides in Fort Myers, Fla., remembers Lauren Bacall as Betty.
"Lauren 'Betty' Bacall was a superb actress and had a style of her own, and that voice was magnetic. She was one of my favorite actors. I just love how she and Bogie worked together."
Just a few weeks from turning 90, Bacall's acting history is known from film, stage, and musical theater. Her voice and look were easy to identify, as they were known to be husky and sultry all at once!
Al, as a talented actor (UFTA President) yourself and a fan, what else do you remember about Ms Bacall?
"I remember that she first began as a model. Later she became the leading lady with Humphrey Bogart in 'To Have and Have Not' in 1944."
Do you remember any other films she was in, and did you see them all?
"Yes, I'm quite sure I saw them all, some more than once! A few of them were 'The Big Sleep,' 'Dark Passage,' 'How to Marry a Millionare,' and of course 'Key Largo.' They were all in the 40s and 50s."
What about in the years to follow?
"Later Betty worked on Broadway in musicals, and she was in 'The Mirror Has Two Faces." That last film was in the 90s. She won many awards too, including a Golden Globe and an Academy Award nomination."

"It seems that God had blessed Ms Bacall with a great talent. God bless, we will miss you."
