Actor Dave Coulier has finally admitted that singer Alanis Morisette’s song You Oughtta Know is about him. This was a rumor that lasted for almost 20 years and Dave Coulier has finally broken his silence about the truth behind the song. Dave has admitted that he inspired Alanis’ hit song.
Dave and Alanis met while they were both working on TV shows for Nickelodeon. Dave was on Out Of Control while Alanis was on You Can’t Do That On Television. Dave and Alanis dated in the 90s. They broke up bitterly just before she released her cd Jagged Little Pill.
Dave told Huffington Post Live that he called Alanis about the song. He wanted to know what she wanted him to say about the song once it was released. He thought that people would assume that the song was about him. According to GossipCop, Dave said that Alanis said that he could say whatever he wanted about her song.
During the interview with Huffington Post Live, Dave thought a line in You Oughtta Know was about him. In the song, Alanis sings “I hate to bug you in the middle of dinner”. Dave insists that Alanis called him during dinner after they broke up. When he heard the line he knew the song was about him.
Dave has mentioned in several interviews that he was convinced the hit song was about him. Alanis Morisette has never confirmed or denied the accusation.
