Some members of the gaming community are questioning Activision's decision to release its eighth “Call of Duty” title since 2006. However, according to an article published by Eurogamer on August 28, Activision CEO, Eric Hirshberg says they are just responding to popular demand.
In a little more than two months Activision will launch “Call of Duty: Ghosts,” which will be the eighth November release in a row. When asked if he thought the yearly releases were over doing it, Hirshberg said there was “demand and excitement” for every release, and added that players are not only buying the “Call of Duty” titles, but they are also “playing throughout the year.”
Hirshberg credits the series' success to the companies decision to alternate between development studios. Activision works with both Infinity Ward and Treyarch to develop the COD series. This way each title gets a full 18 months of development time before its launch.
“Call of Duty: Ghosts,” which was developed by Activision and Treyarch is set to launch on November 5, 2013. You can pre-order your copy of “COD: Ghosts” on Callofduty.com.
