Fast moving low pressure was lifting north and east into New England this morning. A cold front tied to this area of low pressure had passed through the Capital Region. After a mostly cloudy start this morning, skies should begin to clear. In addition, a brisk west to northwest breeze is expected to pick up. Temperatures will be noticeably cooler today.
Mostly clear skies are expected tonight, along with cool conditions as the region lies in between weather systems, with another weak, fast moving system approaching us from the upper Midwest. This system will send some clouds our way beginning Saturday afternoon. Some light showers are also possible north and west of the Capital Region Saturday night. The frontal system races through the region and should be well east of the area by Sunday morning, allowing for a repeat of the weather experienced today. That being morning clouds followed by an afternoon sunshine / cloud mix, and a brisk breeze.
With cooler air flowing over Lake Ontario, lake effect clouds and showers will be possible north and west of the Capital Region on Sunday, and some of the cloud cover may even spill down the Mohawk Valley into the Capital Region.
The active weather pattern persists into the early portions of next week, with a significant cool down in temperatures expected. A trough of low pressure establishes itself in the mid and upper levels of the atmosphere setting the stage for partly sunny skies, breezy conditions, and occasional bouts of shower activity (some of which may be mixed with snow in the Adirondacks and higher elevations north and west of the Capital Region during the overnight hours).
