This Saturday, October 5th, the world’s largest carpet and upholstery cleaning service, Chem-Dry, is partnering with The Anti-Cruelty Society for an adopt-a-pet event. At the event, Chem-Dry will be rolling out the green carpet in order to offer pet lovers around Chicagoland the opportunity to win free carpet cleaning services for an entire year while helping pets-at-large in the community.
Has your feline (or canine) ever urinated on your carpet? If so, then you know that it is not just a surface issue. Pet urine penetrates the carpet fibers and contaminates both the backing of the carpet and the sub-flooring located below the actual carpet.
Many times, pet owners will discover that their feline (or canine) has an issue and is continually urinating in the same general location in the home. As the urine dries, urine crystals become concentrated and are pungent.
Besides the irritating smell and the yellowing appearance on your household investment, an abundance of cat urine can be harmful to your overall health and well-being if it is neglected. The people living in the household can have headaches and dizziness, develop sore throats, lightheadedness, nausea and vomiting. Children are at an even greater risk of developing these common symptoms because their body weight ratio is so much lower than an adult’s body weight ratio.
If the cat continues to urinate on the carpeting and the urine becomes excessive, the long-term affect is no greater than the short-term effects to the human being, but the carpet will and the sub-flooring will have to be replaced eventually. After awhile, the subflooring will begin to rot and the smell will accumulate until those living there will not be able to stand it.
Cats do have the tendency to continue their process. It is a very difficult task to get them to stop.
The reasons vary for a cat’s actions and as to why they quit using their litter box. It could be as serious as a urinary tract infection or developing bladder problems. Perhaps the cat does not like the litter or the litter box liner that you are using or they are angry about another pet in the household. The cat may also be revolting because they are lonely and are paying you back for not being there for them.
No matter what the issue is, you must learn to overcome. Take care of your pet and your home, too. Chem-Dry is trying to make it easier for you to do that in addition to helping the homeless pets rescued by The Anti-Cruelty Society (TACS). They have bought right into TACS motto of Building a community of caring by helping pets and educating people. Check out this special event and take your chance for free carpet cleaning for an entire year!
