Achieving optimal health means limiting stress

Eating whole foods, taking vitamins, staying active—these are all great steps you can take to improve your health. However, there’s more to good health than just eating right and being active. Good health requires that you relieve stress and anxiety.

Here are some ways to promote health from the inside-out:

  • Get a hobby. Making time for a hobby can relieve stress. Knitting or crocheting, playing card games or starting a collection are just a few hobbies that can help take your mind off a difficult work or a stressful family situation.
  • Learn something new. It can be hard to find the time to learn something new, but activities that engage the mind or require a new skillset build confidence, and make you happier and healthier.
  • Ask for help. Sometimes relieving stress involves removing some of the obstacles in your life that create or build on existing stress. If you’re a stay-at-home mom, swap childcare with a friend or neighbor to get some relief. If you’re a working mom, get help around the house. A well-balanced, healthy life requires looking at all areas of your life, including activities, people or jobs that contribute to stress. Combine a nearly stress-free life with good eating habits and regular physical activity, and you’ve got a recipe for success.
