ACF Fiorentina had the chance to remain tied in first place with Napoli in the Italian soccer league on Sunday, but ended up tying with Cagliari 1-1. The tie gave Fiorentina only a point and remained in second place tied with Juventus and Inter Milan.
As reported by ESPN Deportes on Sunday, Fiorentina tied with Cagliari 1-1 in a game in which the Viola (the Purple) had to win to remain on top.
Even though the Viola dominated the game in front of their fans, Cagliari managed a tying goal in the last minutes of the game. The tying goal was made by Chilean midfielder Mauricio Ferreira Pinilla.
ACF Fiorentina had 16 shots on goal and only managed one in the net. The goal for the Viola was made by Spaniard midfielder Borja Valero.
Both goals were made in the second half. Fiorentina made theirs in the 71st minute, while Cagliari made theirs in the 89th minute.
Fiorentina remains tied for second place with Juventus and Inter Milan with seven points each, while Cagliari stays in 12th place.
ACF Fiorentina faces Portuguese team Ferreira on Thursday for a UEFA Europa League match.
