‘Ace of Cakes’ Duff Goldman donates cake to lesbian couple

Ace of Cakes” star Adam Goldman offered a lesbian couple a wedding cake after they were denied a cake by Oregon baker Aaron Klein from Sweet Cakes according to ABC News on Feb. 9. The couple reached out and accepted the cake. One of the brides-to-be filed a complaint against the owner after Klein told them he could not bake their cake because it was against his religion. He was quoted as saying “abominations to the Lord.”

Klein told local media that he apologies for wasting the couple’s time and that he did not mean to hurt anyone or for this situation to go global but his choice was something he believed in very strongly. Portland attorney Paula Barran said the Sweet Cakes owner violated the Oregon Equality Act of 2007 which prohibits discrimination based on sexual preference or identity.

When Adam Goldman heard the news he offered to make the couple a wedding cake of their choice completely free of charge. “I said, ‘Hey I can fix this problem. Somebody was a jerk to them and I can bake them a cake. That’s what I can do,’” Goldman told ABCNews.com. He went on to say, “I want to give them a big hug and say congratulations,” he said. “It involves cake, it involves love, marriage, all things I’m a big fan of.”

The couple has accepted Duff’s offer. The names of the women have not been released but a statement was issued through the couple’s lawyer. They thanked the community for their support as well as friends and family.

Looks like the couple will have a happy ending after all. What do you think? Sound off in the comments below.
