The mother accused of stabbing her 8-year-old daughter to death appeared in family court Monday to face a challenge to her parental rights over her other four children. The Child Protective Services filed a petition against the mother on December 31, the day after the stabbing.
Mother Semaria Greene is accused of stabbing her only daughter Tameria Greene once in the chest. The wound proved fatal.
The mom was arrested and later arraigned on charges of felony murder and child abuse.
The four other children have been in foster care.
On Monday the court referee asked that Semaria Greene lose her parental rights over Tameria’s four younger brothers, ages 7, 4, 2 and 1.
The judge will have seven days to consider the request. Other family members may still challenge it.
The father of three of the boys intervened, seeking custody. But he had already lost parental rights over two of the boys.
The Department of Human Services hopes the boys can be placed with family members.
