An accused child molester allegedly slashed his neck in the main entrance of the Bartow County courthouse Tuesday afternoon.
And deputies said they had to shoot him with a Taser in order to restrain him.
The incident happened around 12:40 p.m. when Mr. Jamie Lamar Green walked into the main entrance on Cherokee Avenue, according to the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office.
Prior to walking through the security checkpoint, the 41-year-old Cartersville man allegedly pulled out a knife and cut his own neck, Sheriff Clark Millsap said.
“Deputies manning the security checkpoint immediately challenged Green and ultimately shot him once with a Taser before taking control of him,” Sheriff Millsap said.
Mr. Green was rushed to a hospital for a serious injury to his neck, the sheriff said. His condition was unknown Wednesday.
No one other than Mr. Green was injured during the incident.
