The Accor chain of hotels, the largest international hotel operator in Asia-Pacific, announced the development of three new hotels in South Korea earlier this month – the Mercure Ambassador Gangnam, the Novotel Ambassador Seoungbuk, and the Ibis Ambassador Insadong.
Mercure Ambassador Gangnam
The Mercure Ambassador Gangnam will become the first Mercure branded hotel in South Korea. It is scheduled for completion later this year and will feature 288 rooms, a restaurant and bar, four meeting rooms, and fitness/spa facilities. The Gangnam area is a thriving part of Seoul, popular with both business travelers and tourists.
Novotel Ambassador Seoungbuk
The new Novotel will be located near the Seongbuk Metro Station and is scheduled to be completed in 2016. It will feature 300 rooms with state-of-the-art facilities and food and beverage outlets.
Ibis Ambassador Insadong
The Ibis is one of Accors budget brands and will be located near Anguk Station and Insadong Street. Scheduled for completion in 2013, the Ibis Ambassador Insadong will have 360 rooms and become the fifth Ibis hotel in South Korea.
"Accor is proud to sign three new hotels adding to our South Korean hotel network and beginning 2012 with a bang. This will extend the brand portfolio in the country and provide guests with a more comprehensive hotel selection to choose from," said Patrick Basset, Vice President of Operations for Vietnam, the Philippines, South Korea and Japan. "Accor hotels in Korea have performed exceptionally well these past 3 years, running at over 90% occupancy rate annually in the Seoul market. Accor sees South Korea as a country full of potential and looks forward to continue its hotel expansion to meet the increasing demand for international brands in the country."
Accor first entered the South Korean market 25 years ago and today is the largest international operator of hotels in the country with 10 hotels, featuring over 2,800 rooms – from the economy Ibis to the upscale Pullman brand.
