Northbound I-95 was closed in the Palm Coast area of Flagler County Tuesday morning, and northbound traffic was being detoured off the interstate. The Flagler County Sheriff's Office says the northbound interstate will be closed "...up to 24 hours...from Palm Coast Parkway to U.S. 1." The Florida Highway Patrol says northbound I-95 is closed at Palm Coast exit 291, and drivers are being detoured to State Road 100, then north on U-S 1 to mile marker/I-95 exit 284. According to Florida 511, drivers on northbound I-95 can also take exit 273 (U.S. 1 in the Ormond Beach/Daytona Beach area), and then turn right off the exit ramp, to take U.S. 1 north, and detour to I-95.
FlaglerEmergency.com reports that the southbound lanes of I-95 are open, but that a “…traffic crash involving tractor trailers…” has closed the northbound interstate. Drivers were advised to use U-S 1 or Old Kings Road instead.
At around 10 a.m. Tuesday morning, status updates for the central Florida area were unavailable on the Florida 511 Traffic system, but travelers may want to double-check that website if you are planning on driving north on I-95 past Palm Coast. (Note: That website appears to be working again for the central Florida area as of 11 a.m. Tuesday).
