Accident at gun show: 3 injured after gun discharges

An accident at a gun show in North Carolina on Sat., Jan. 19 has left three people injured. According to Yahoo! News, a 12-guage shotgun "accidentally discharged" when it was being taken out of its case by its owner. The three people who were wounded are expected to be okay.

"Gary Lynn Wilson, 36, of Wilmington, North Carolina, approached the entrance of the Dixie Gun and Knife Show in Raleigh to have his personal firearm inspected. The shotgun fired as he removed it from its case, according to a statement by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture, a host of the gun show," Yahoo! News reported.

The accident at the gun show injured a 50-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman. A 54-year-old retired Wake County Sheriff's deputy who was working at the show was also injured. According to a spokesperson, all three of the injured people were hit by "birdshot" when the gun fired.

Tons of people are talking about this incident today, mainly because of the "crisis" that some people feel America is facing when it comes to gun laws. The issue of gun control is expected to be one of the President's biggest challenges over the next four years. Accidents like this only contribute to the side of people who think guns should not be in the hands of any US citizen who wants one (pending a background check).

The accident at the gun show has not caused a cancellation today but officials say that there will not be any private gun sales allowed.
