Accessories are a bike’s best friend
Ask almost any female and you will learn no new outfit is complete without matching shoes and a complimenting purse. Although few will admit it, the same is true with motorcycle owners. In addition to traditional chrome, bikers love all the cool accessories that enhance the look of the bike and the biker.
A simple Google search for motorcycle accessories generates over 103 million opportunities to find the perfect alarm, luggage rack, gloves, helmet, or cup holder. Harley and Honda riders come to mind first when thinking of motorcycle clothing, but BMW is also a big player in the aftermarket parts and accessories industry. BMW is celebrating a second straight month of record bike sales, along with a successful line of BMW apparel featuring “functional underwear.” It is important to note BMW uses the term “functional” to describe many of the products in its apparel line.
Most bikers agree few things spruce up the look of a motorcycle more than chrome. Some would argue there is no such thing as too much chrome, and fittingly almost any component can be chromed. At the same time, there is no limit to the number of frills available to boost the performance and appearance of almost every brand of motorcycle. From sound systems, mirrors, lights, fairings, cameras, navigation systems, and fender accents to vests, belts, boots, and rain gear, almost all are available in a color and brand to match the motorcycle.
Motorcycle manufacturers and savvy support vendors have developed a lucrative accessory business which fills an unspoken need. Bikers aren’t typically hobbit or Beanie Baby collectors, but they are often the proud owners of a variety of motorcycle tee shirts. In the right situation, a biker might just own a biker beanie baby.
