WADA "ADA Live!" is a free monthly internet-based radio talk show for individuals interested in learning more about their rights and responsibilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The show airs on the first Wednesday of each month from 1:00 p.m. -1:30 p.m. (Eastern) and 12 Noon-12:30 p.m. (Central).
No registration is required. On the day of the live broadcast, links to the live audio and real-time captioning will be available on www.adalive.org. This month's guest speaker is William Botten, U.S. Access Board and the moderator is Pamela Williamson, Director of the Southeast ADA Center. Playgrounds with accessible components included throughout the play areas make it possible for children with and without disabilities to choose where and how they want to play with each other. The 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design went into effect on March 15, 2012. The Standards contain specific technical requirements for new or altered play areas, regardless of whether they are publicly or privately owned and funded. This episode will discuss the new requirements and answer your questions about making play areas accessible to all children.
