One of the easiest ways to decorate your home for the holidays is to sprinkle your garden with flowers that bloom just when you need them. By having a variety of flowers and trees that bloom at different times of year, you can easily do half your outdoor decorating by just letting your garden develop over the seasons.
Mixing and matching late summer and fall plants make a beautiful and cheerful display that changes with the mood of the season and yours too.
It doesn’t take much to put something original and affordable together. Keep it simple. Choose seasonal flowers and plants and don’t forget your favorite colors for a mix that will bloom over several months, working right alongside you as you plan the holidays.
Inexpensive and mid-range flowers can be found at Lowe’s, Home Depot, local nurseries, and at multitude of farms and stands on the East End. In the coming weeks, the Long Island Wine trail will be filled with mums, plants, pumpkins and holiday ideas just waiting for your imagination. Adding flowers that will bloom from year to year is always a good idea.
