ACC tournament brackets 2013: Florida State, Maryland advance

The 2013 ACC tournament brackets head into the quarterfinals Friday (March 15). First round games in the ACC tournament brackets played out on Thursday (March 14) and there were no upsets to report in the conference. North Carolina State, Florida State, Maryland, and Boston College all advanced to play much tougher opponents in the next round.

Updated 2013 NCAA Tournament Bracket Predictions

Early in first round action, it looked like Wake Forest might be able to pull off an upset against Maryland. At halftime the game was getting out of hand, but in the second half Maryland just controlled the game on both ends of the court and the score ended up pretty lopsided. Now the team advances to play the Duke Blue Devils in an extremely difficult second round game.

On paper the next round doesn't look all that competitive within the 2013 ACC tournament brackets, but nothing ever goes according to plan in conference tournaments. The four underdog schools are each looking to make a statement to the NCAA tournament selection committee and pad that resume before the season comes to an end. Meanwhile, Duke and Miami are looking for a title to possibly secure a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament.
