Howard Stern definitely had something to do with Brett Ratner losing his job as producer of the 2012 Oscars according to Academy President Tom Sherak.

Sherak said that Ratner was already on thin ice after he used a homophobic slur at a screening of 'Tower Heist' last week, but his Howard Stern Show appearance was the nail in the coffin.
"It was both," Sherak told the Los Angeles Times. "It was the accumulation. It wasn't just one thing."
Ratner called the Howard Stern Show Monday morning and revealed, among other things, Lindsay Lohan's pubic hairstyle, his practice of making actresses he sleeps with get tested for STDs first and his penchant for performing oral sex.

Sherak said that he didn't hear Ratner's Stern Show interview until late Monday night:
"I don’t listen to that show. I’m not a listener, I think I’m out of the demographic. I got an email. Have you heard Howard Stern? Later in the day I went home. I put it on and I started listening to it...I knew why I don’t listen to Howard Stern. I felt appalled. Oh my gosh, oh wow. Thank God my wife didn’t hear it. I was appalled. Brett called me the next day he said, ‘Tom, I need to resign.’ I said thank you."
Ratner has been replaced by veteran producer Brian Grazer. Eddie Murphy, who dropped out as host after Ratner stepped down, has been replaced by Billy Crystal.
