When the 85th Annual Academy Awards aired Sunday, Feb. 24, all bets were on Jennifer Lawrence to take home the golden statue for her performance in “Silver Linings Playbook.” When it was all over, the Oscar actually went to her and she looked so surprised.
She tripped on the way up the steps and joked that her standing ovation was one of pity for her tripping. She thanked the cast and crew and seemed overwhelmed though she held it together through her short speech.
Other nominees in the category for Best Actress in a Motion Picture were:
- Jessica Chastain for “Zero Dark Thirty”
- Emmanuelle Riva for “Amour”
- Quvenzhané Wallis for “Beasts of the Southern Wild”
- Naomi Watts for “The Impossible”
Prior to her Oscar win, Lawrence was best known for her role as Katniss in “The Hunger Games.” Other notable credits include Mystique in “X-Men: First Class,” and Ree in “Winter’s Bone.” She has three films slated for release in 2013: “Serena”, “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” and an unnamed project for David O. Russell.
