Academy Awards 2013: Windex wipes make it into $45,000 swag bags

Oscar swag is alive and well for Sunday night’s 2013 Academy Awards and each nominated guest at the event walk out with a swag bag worth $45,000. According to “Fox News” live on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, the gifts include everything from the travel voucher that will take them to exotic destinations to a $3 packet of Windex wipes. If you are a nominee and don’t win an Oscar, the swag bag seems like a great consolation prize.

The swag bags include some items you’d might find bizarre to give out at such a elegant occasion, like condoms. Even the kids of the Oscar nominees win big with their gift. They get a free enrollment to the professional all-kid circus classes, according to The Inquistr.

In 2007, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences stopped handing out their famous swag bags, but Distinctive Assets took over and have been handing out the swag for about a decade, according to the Inquistr. The Oscars don’t officially endorse the swag bags, but they’re handed out just the same.

Sunday night’s swag bag will include the condoms and the Windex wipes, along with that travel voucher to Australia, Mexico or Hawaii. The nominees will also receive a year’s membership in Heathrow Airport’s VIP club.

Tennis shoes, meal control dinnerware, fitness sessions and a “nice bottle of tequila” are some of the swag bag contents for the 2013 Academy Awards nominees.
