The red carpet began with all of the pageantry and ceremony of a royal affair. Hollywood anointed their film stars and most of the prominent names in show business arrived to see the results.

The Academy Awards have a long history from their first ceremony on May 16th, 1929. They honored movies released from August 1, 1927 to August 1, 1928.

Television brought an audience of millions and the change from black and white to color (1953) created a vivid duplication of the actual event. Since 1969, the Oscar has been broadcast internationally to over 200 countries.

In addition to the festivities at Dolby, in Hollywood, the Academy Awards link with other cities to bring their celebration across the United States. The Academy Awards red carpet Las Vegas-style appears at the Palms Hotel & Casino. Limousines bring the celebrities to the theater to walk the red carpet, join the Academy Awards party and see the live feed from Los Angeles.
