Starting the year off with a positive and confident mindset will set the tone for sustained productivity and motivation all year long. Back to School time is the perfect time for your teen to reflect on last year and create a plan about how they can make this year even better.
Here are some key questions that your teen will want to think about in order to be proactive and make this year a success.
- What worked last year?
- What didn’t work?
- How can you improve upon what you’re already doing--for this year?
- What is your vision for how you want this year to be?
- What are concrete action steps you can take to work toward that vision?
On Saturday, August 24 at 11 a.m. you are invited to a FREE Parent Discussion in Santa Monica, about what it really means for your teen to be "successful" in school.
The first step to academic success is self-awareness. When teens become aware of their Core Motivational type, they also become aware of how to embrace their core motivation style's natural strengths, as well as manage it's weaknesses.
In addition to learning about your teen's Core Motivation type, we will also be discussing the importance of teens identifying their passions. Passions are much more than something you love to do. It's about knowing why you love doing it, and making choices to nurture that passion as well as share it with your community.
Although the word "passion" can be overused on college applications and in college counselors' offices, it should not be overlooked. Your teenager's success at becoming an effective adult, living a fulfilling life, relies on them knowing how he/she creates and impacts the world they live in.
Other Upcoming Discussion Dates and Topics:
August 31: Helping Teens Link Their Hard Work With a Sense of Purpose
September 7: Do Grades Really Matter? Can Not Focusing on Grades Can Improve Them?
Discussion will be held Saturdays, 11 a.m, in my Santa Monica office by Hayden Lee, a certified Academic Life Coach.
Start the school year strong and learn how to keep going strong all year long!
