AC Milan loses to Manchester City 5-1 for International Champions Cup group game

AC Milan lost to English Premier League Champions Manchester City 5-1 on Sunday afternoon for a Group B game of the second edition of the Guinness International Champions Cup held in the US. The game was played at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh in front of 34,347 spectators.

It was reported that Montenegro forward Stevan Jovetic from Man City scored two goals in the match against Milan. Jovetic was an issue for Man City last season since the Montenegro soccer star spent most of his time injured with only two starts for the English Premier team.

Jovetic came from Italian club Fiorentina to Man City but did not have the chance to show off in the English league. Man City coach from Chile Manuel Pelligrini put faith in Jovetic and did not trade him to Inter Milan during the break. Jovetic proved that he can be a contributor for Man City by scoring his two goals against Milan on Sunday afternoon.

It was also reported that the match between Manchester City and AC Milan lacked a bit of competition despite the high scoring of 5-1. The match also lacked some star power as the teams kept their main players on the bench. Spectators were still treated to a decent game with many goals and some familiar faces.

The loss for Milan puts them out of the race to make the finals for the International Champions Cup that is scheduled to be played in Miami. Milan has already lost two of their Group B game. The first loss came on Thursday against Greek Champions Olympiacos FC for the opening match of the ICC tournament.

AC Milan still has a game to play on Friday against English club team Liverpool FC to finish off the Group B games. English Champions Manchester City will face Olympiacos FC on the same day.
