Abundance of indie bands play Chicago in December

Trying to scrounge up the perfect gifts for the music aficionados in your life, the ones who have every bootleg and b-side imaginable? It's hard to miss with ensuring they experience their favorite band in a live setting.

Despite being in the throes of the holiday season, December isn't hurting for diverse indie artists bringing their music to the windy city. Chicago venues are rife with everything from subgenre godfathers like Morrissey and Fishbone to current stars Wilco, The National (still touring behind their fantastic 2010 album, High Violet) and Ryan Adams, plus a passel of lesser known artists. Several acts are playing multiple shows in the area; Wilco in particular is playing no less than five times.
