After a few weeks and about $1.2 million in renovations, the Abrahams branch of the Omaha Public Library reopened yesterday. A few thousand Omahans visited the branch and marveled at the new look.
As reported earlier here by your Omaha Public Library examiner, the Abrahams branch, built in 1988, was not up to date and lacked usefulness for today's library patron. New acoustics, electrical outlets and seating provides a better experience for library-goers and caters to the evolving technological needs of our world.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held outside the branch, located around 90th and Fort Streets in Omaha, followed by the big reveal. Families and library advocates received the branch well and indicated they would visit more often now that the library is more functional, welcoming and fun. The money used for the renovations came from Omaha's capital improvement fund which helps Omaha looking better and catering to the city's needs.
Be sure to check out the new branch and come back often!
