Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter - in theaters June 2012

The past eight years have been all about three things: werewolves, zombies, and Edward Cullen. As in vampires. That suck blood and engage in semi-abusive relationships with teenagers. We like sparkly things, is what I'm saying.

Way back in 2010, Seth Grahame-Smith followed his surprisingly witty "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" (also being made into a movie) with "Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter." The latter is meant to be an expository book based on secret diaries that the 16th president wrote detailing his work as, you know, a vampire hunter.

The book has now been adapted into a movie starring Benjamin Walker as Honest-Stake-Wielding-Abe and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Mary Todd Lincoln. But the happy news - Tim Burton directs it. That pretty much means we can expect it to be dark, quirky, humorous, and potentially traumatic for children (so watch out).

In case you were wondering, here's the basic plot of the film, according to IMDB:

Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States, discovers vampires are planning to take over the United States. He makes it his mission to eliminate them.

I really don't think you could have gotten that from the title alone.
