About face: Three easy face massages for flawless skin

Healthy, glowing and flawless skin is a common desire among most people. Your skin is one of the external signs of how healthy your body is, and for those with problem skin, it can be a real detriment affecting other areas of daily life.

Skin cells, especially those of the face, are nourished by blood flow. Have you ever noticed how good and energized your body feels after a good workout? Your heart gets pumping and blood flows equipped with oxygen cells through your body. Nutrients are absorbed and your cells become stronger and grow faster.

This feeling can also be experienced after a body massage. Not only are your muscles being soothed, but blood circulation is also being promoted.

Skin problems can be caused by several factors, including but not limited to: genetics, poor diet and exercise, lack of water intake, and buildup of dirt and oil. There are several steps one can take to help their skin, for instance, drinking more water, or using a daily cleansing treatment. Giving yourself a quick 5-10 minute face massage can also help promote healthy skin.

Cleansing Massage: When cleansing your face in the morning and/or night, use four fingers of each hand and stroke upwards. Focus on the sides of your face first, then move to inwards towards your mouth, nose and around your eyes. Be careful not to tug at the skin under your eyes; it's very delicate and too much stress on the skin can cause darkening, puffiness, and wrinkles! After massaging around your eyes, work up towards your forehead, stroking out and up.

Pinch Massage: Gently, pinch with your thumb and index finger the thicker portions (chin and cheek area) of your skin. Gently rotate the skin in a semi-circle and later, use a toner. This step brings blood to the area and relaxes the muscles.

Piano Massage: You can apply moisturizer to your face and then try this technique. Using your fingers, lightly tap your skin to stimulate blood flow. You can also using long, yet gentle strokes moving from your neck or chin all the way to your scalp. You may experience a tingle.

These three face massages can help your skin cells be healthier and stronger. Don't forget to have a well-proportioned diet, exercise, drink water, and stay away from foods rich in sugar and salt.
